won, then played a bit more before eventual- ly investing in MONA. Described as a temple to secularism, rationalism, and talking non- sense about things you don’t know very much about, MONA opened in 2011 and exhibits an eclectic range of art from ancient history to modern works, including pieces from Pi- casso, Warhol and Dali. It holds the world’s largest private collection of ancient Egyptian artefacts. There’s also live music, food, wine, accommodation, a library, brewery, record- ing studio, and tennis court. MONA should be explored — as a space of wonder and experi- ment. Download the MONA App before you get there. Catch the ferry from Hobart. You could speed through MONA in four hours, but it’s best to hang around and make a day of it. 655 Main Rd, Berriedale TASMANIA 7011 Tel: +61 36277 9900 mona.net.au The d’Arenberg Cube You must see it to believe it! Set within the historic d’Aren- berg vineyard and winery at McLaren Vale, the multi-level structure features the d’Arenberg Cube Restaurant, a wine tasting room, a virtu- al fermenter, a 360-degree video room and the Alternate Realities Museum, with numerous art installations. The idea to build the Cube came to winemaker Chester Osborn in 2003. Inspired by the complexities and puzzles of winemaking, Chester came up with the idea of a cube-shaped building.
