Colonial Coins & Medals Peter Brooks left behind a career at the CSIRO in 1966 to pursue his passion for the science of coins, medals and tokens, leading the young collector to open a small numismatic deal- ership which, over the years, has grown to become a leading destination for collectors worldwide. Brooks’s passion for coins and medals grew from his appreciation of their his- tory and significance. As a 16-year-old visiting London, his private purchase of a mint state Charles II 1665 Pattern Farthing struck in silver remains in his collection today. The compa- ny’s distinctive logo – the crowned Portcullis of the Tower of London Mint – was inspired by the iconic Portcullis Money Series, England’s first trade coinage, struck in 1600-1601 under Queen Elizabeth I. In 2020, Charles Brooks joined the family business fulltime, bringing with him the kind of energy and passion that continues to fire Peter Brooks’s life-long inter- est. Charles also adds a modern perspective to the business through its online store and blog, Colonial Gazette. 1/218 Adelaide St, Brisbane QLD 4000 Tel: +61 732218460 or +61 732293949 colonialcoins.com.au Antique Print & Map Room The largest specialist dealer of rare antique maps and prints in Australia, and with an on- line store offering more than 15,000 genuine rare maps, antique prints, lithographs, en- gravings, books, ephemera and original art- works, Antique Print & Map Room was found- ed Louis and Susie Kissajukian in Sydney in 1979.
