Beginning with a small shoe repair business, the young Ferraga- mo’s journey took him from Italy to the United States and back. In 1923, Ferragamo made his way to California and Hollywood, where he handcrafted shoes and boots for the then-fledg- ling film industry. In 1927 he returned to Italy to start the Salvatore Ferragamo company, based in Florence, where he created high-end women’s footwear. When Ferragamo passed away in 1960 the company was taken over by his wife, Wanda, who continued the brand’s evolution. In 1965, the house launched leather goods and ready- to-wear apparel designed by Giovanna Gentile Ferragamo. At the same time, the company began the production of handbags, under the Tel: + 61 29182 0863 ralphlauren.com.au Salvatori Ferragamo

Known for their transparent lustre and unique colour palette, Paspaley pearls are among the rarest and most sought-after in the world, appearing in the collections of Cartier, Tiffany and Co and Harry Winston, among oth- ers. Nicholas Paspaley Sr was a young entrepre- neur when he arrived in Australia from Greece in 1942 and headed to the Kimberley region in the northernmost part of Western Australia. Aged 19, he bought a pearl lugger, diving for natural pearls and mother-of-pearl shell. Decades later, Paspaley realised his dream of creating cultured pearls of the same quality as his natural South Sea pearls. Today, under the chairmanship of Nicholas Paspaley Jr, those cultured pearls are regarded as being in a category of their own – Paspaley Pearls. 2 Martin Pl, Sydney NSW 2000 Stores in Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and Broome.
